Ding Huamin (1904 - 1990), male, a native of Fengning County, Hebei Province. Mr. Ding graduated from Peking Medical College in 1930. Studying from Mr. Kong Bohua, one of the four famous doctors then, he worked hard at his studies. Moved by his earnest study attitude, Mr. Kong taught him everything he knew. In 1931, he opened his own clinic in Beijing and began to take in and treat patients. Mr. Ding was good at treating miscellaneous diseases in internal medicine, especially in the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) diagnosis and treatment of ophthalmic diseases. He soon gained the reputation of "Master of Ophthalmology". After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he joined the Beijing TCM Joint Clinic in 1954 and was hired by the Beijing Hospital of TCM in 1957 as the Chief Physician, he once served as the Director of Department of Ophthalmology. In 1978, he was identified as the priority academic experiences inheritance object among the famous old doctors of TCM in Beijing.
Mr. Ding loved the cause of Chinese medicine. After practicing medicine for decades, he accumulated rich clinical treatment experiences. He summarized and wrote dozens of articles on ophthalmology and gynecology, which were published in various professional journals, some of which were selected into the Selected Experiences of Old TCM in Beijing, leaving valuable wealth for the development of TCM ophthalmology. His descendant Hao Yumei is still working in our hospital.
